Nicholas Payton

Just got the current issue of Downbeat and read the review of his latest recording. They mentioned that his father is Walter Payton. Is he the son of Sweetness the great running back? If not is his father a musician?

Thanks

Re: Nicholas Payton

His father is a jazz bassist/educator in NOLA and not the late, great Bears running back.

Re: Nicholas Payton

I read that copy of Downbeat. His father is named Walter, but is not sweetness Walter. As to wether or not Payton sr. plays any instruments, I have to check again.

Re: Nicholas Payton

Thanks Trent. I didn't think Nicholas was young enough to be the son of Sweetness.

Actually, Nicholas is way older than Walter (bears) Payton's son Jarrett who played for the University of Miami a few years back, and may still be floating around the NFL as a backup.
