Re: Whatcha been lis'nin to lately? Lots of Lee Morgan: Sidewinder - My favorite tracks are Sidewinder and Boy What A Night Cornbread - Gotta love the title track and Ceora, of course Rumproller - Desert Moonlight (anyone heard the Freddie Hubbard/Woody Shaw version of this on Doubletake? KILLER - the whole album is for that matter, especially when they trade eights on Lotus Blossom!!) Search For The New Land - Mr. Kennyata

Re: Whatcha been lis'nin to lately? The Jaco Pastorius anthology Punk Jazz. Some of the newly issued Soft Machine releases, especially Grides and Middle Earth Masters. All of the Henry Cow albums. Funkadelic's Maggot Brain and One Nation Under a Groove. Radiohead's OK Computer. Some Bob Dylan, especially Blonde on Blonde. Arthur Rubenstein's 51 Mazurkas (Chopin). Zoltan Kocsis's set of Bartok piano music. Lisa Sokolov's Presence (which I'm really blown away by; if I made a personal top 10 list of great jazz vocal records, this would be on it). Dokshizer's Japanese Melodies. The Miles Davis sets from the Blackhawk (a favorite for 30 years) and the Plugged Nickel.

Re: Whatcha been lis'nin to lately? The staples for me: Clark Terry, Miles, Chet, Lee Morgan, some older Freddie Hubbard. BTW. I have never heard Botti Live, however you guys are fooling yourselves if you don't think he is an excellent trumpet player.

Re: Whatcha been lis'nin to lately? Chris Botti is an amazing player who can do whatever he wants. Don't let the illusion that he went the money route mean anything to you. This guy is a beast. Lately I've been listening to Gordon Goodwin, Botti, Arturo, Wayne, Clifford. Recently I came upon Adam Rapa. Hes got some really cool stuff. Check him out at adamrapa.com . Greg

Re: Whatcha beeble guy n lis'nin to lately? YES ... CHRIS BOTTI CAN PLAY!!!! He sat in with us in NYC last summer at the Blue Note. He stood there trading jaw dropping solos with Maynard, he's a very nice humble guy .. great sound, amazing soloing ideas, G's & A's that "HURT" the ears from the back row ... That night was one to remember!
