| Re: Whatcha been lis'nin to lately? Some Donald Byrd Blue Notes (man,he could play once upon a time) some Herbie Hancock, Bobby Watson with Terrell Stafford, Dizzy in 1987 with Sam Rivers. That is a crime that no record label ever recorded that band, it was a shining ensemble late in Dizzy's career. Michael McLaughlin "It has transcended the vicissitudes of the contingent world, and has passed into the realm of the metaphysical." Dizzy Gillespie, referring to his composition Night in Tunisia. |

| Re: Whatcha been lis'nin to lately? I regularly listen to and watch the DVD "Seven" by Mnozil Brass. Those guys are amazing and Thomas Gansch is among the best players I have ever heard. Jazz, classical, they do it all! -cw- |

| Re: Whatcha been lis'nin to lately? I have been listening to more great music and playing from Pamela Fleming & Fearless Dreamer’s "Climb" CD. I listened to it three times the first day that I got it. The CD is "dedicated to all those who lost their lives" on 9/11. This music speaks on an emotional level with a real message behind it. | Re: Whatcha been lis'nin to lately? Miles Davis' Kind of Blue - new release with pitch corrected (original was recorded in part on a fast machine), and extra 1st take of Flamenco Sketches. Listened in my papasan chair with my eyes closed. As mind-blowing as ever. |

| Re: Whatcha been lis'nin to lately? Thad Jones: Detroit-NY Junction Thad Jones & Mel Lewis: Dedication - I am playing along with Thad on my flugelhorn to the title track, "Dedication" and to "A Child is Born" trying to make them sound as beautiful as possible. The charts on this CD are slightly similar to the "Consummation" CD. Janell |
