The album is Dinah Jams... but the amazon release doesn't have every track from the session... all the tracks can be heard here (and this set is worth every penny... it was the first CD set I bought!)

Lately I've been going back and checking out my Art Tatum albums and a lot of KD. Nothing like going to Tatum to realize just how much work there is left to do as an improvising musician!

I’m listening to Don Cherry on pocket trumpet in preparation of the upcoming Festival of New Trumpet Music (FONT). The recording is Ornette Coleman’s Quartet, “This is Our Music” with Donald Cherry, Ed Blackwell, and Charlie Haden.

Foxytrpt will become famous soon enough
Have been listening to Miles Davis "Kind Of Blue" since I was a little girl and it seems to teach me something new each time I listen to the recording.

I've been listening to Kenny Garrett's new one, Beyond the Wall, plus a DVD of Dizzy "Jivin' In Be Bop" (see Wilmer's forum) and a bunch of Keith Jarrett's videos, and several Miles Davis bootlegs. Plus Poncho Sanchez's CD with Mongo Santamaria and Paquito's Portraits of Cuba. Has to do with my trip to Mexico...

I've been really listening to Art Farmer. His beautiful sound and unsurpassed lyricism totally amaze me. I'm trying to absorb as much of it as possible. Right now I'm listening to "Early Art" with Sonny Rollins, Horace Silver, and Wynton Kelly. Later, I'll listen to "Portrait of Art Farmer." Of course, after that I'll listen to more Art recordings and I’ve got Thad Jones “Mean What You Say” recording coming to me soon from Amazon. I truly love ballads.

"Soft Shoe" from Early Art was a solo I learned really well, it's a perfect example of mid-tempo swing. There was about a year back when where I listened to just Art, KD and Thad Jones. I learned a lot that way.
