![]() ![]() ![]() | The album is amazing. It is still listened to and talked about everywhere, and not a single double C on it I believe. More players should concentrate on making MUSIC and stop trying to squeek out the highest note they can. You will get noticed more by having the technique and sound of these guys than by playing a double C. -cw-

| New Friend | I've never heard that rumor. I think the whole point of the album was to present these publicly unheralded players a shot at the spotlight, so an uncredited player kind of goes against that way of thinking.

![]() | Tutti's Trpts. I hear what you're saying but, often times liner notes are incomplete or wrong. It's my understanding in the 50s that subs were often called for a hour or so allowing the date player to make another session. This is what I suspect may have happened. Got my info from Geo. Graham who was around the studios during that period. |

![]() | Goz and Rasey I wonder what Mrs Gozzo and Mrs Rasey would say to their husbands when they arrived home after work. " Did you have a nice day at the studio dear?" Conrad had just sweated blood playing 1st trumpet on a Billy May album all day and Uan had probably given himself a hernia playing lead on "Ben Hur" or "West Side Story" I can't blame them for going to the refrigerator for a beer!!! George was not around the studios then, he was out with Si Zentner (the Arnie and George days). Years in Reno before he got to L.A. studios in the early 80's, late 70's. He was raised in L.A. and his dad was active, but his studio days were ahead of him at this time. Uan told me he played Lead, and if you listen you'll hear it. In the 50's George would not have been out of school very far, could have been his Air Force days as well.

![]() | Gozzo's work George Graham was around the studios in the 50s. Never said he played in the studios during that period. He was aware of the standards and practices of the day and recalled how partial dates were subbed out so the called player could make another date. I'm sure George heard a lot of stories from his dad and went to a few sessions as a kid. So, he was around, it's his "hometown". I would image Frank Beach picked up some of Goz's work. It's my understanding that Gozzo preferred to work with Frank in a section over the other players. |
