To all -How many Maynard albums vs. Diz albums do you own?
Diz was a jazz innovator god, Maynard is a trumpet god. I don't care if I go down in history. I want to play like Maynard.

This is the same as comparing apples and oranges. Some people don't like apples, some don't like oranges, and some like both. How do you compare these two great players when their approach is so different to begin with? I love them both for what they have contributed. And MF will be remembered by more than just trumpet players. The deaf trombone players that had to sit in front of him remember him well.

i completely agree with sdhinote. they are very different players but if i had to pick i would go diz A. i like his style better B. he and charlie were arguably the first at what they did, I would want to have that kind of legacy

It won't let me vote! If I could, I'd have to go for Diz. Maynard was an innovative trumpet player, Diz was an innovative musician. I'm not saying that Maynard isn't a good musician, just that he didn't do anything new that goes beyond the trumpet realm. Just a humble opinion.
