![]() | World Premier Hey All, Here is the press release for the world premier of my new composition . If you are in the Kingston, ON area stop by for some new music. Press Release: Greg Runions, presents his group in a special concert featuring Canadian trumpeter Paul Tynan. For this performance the group will perform the world premier of Paul's jazz suite, The Story of Langston and Greg's new set of compositions, Tunes for Tynan - the October Songs. In addition to lots of new music you will hear some really great jazz musicians collaborating in an environment that is great for listening to new music! Who: The Greg Runions Group, featuring guest musician Paul Tynan What: will perform an evening of original works When: on Tuesday, March 4th, 2008 Where: in the Wilson Room, upstairs in the Kingston Public Library Why: to present the premier of Paul Tynan's new suiteThe Story of Langston and Greg Runions' set of new compositions, October Songs. Location: The Wilson Room Kingston Public Library Kingston, Ontario Time: 7 pm Cost: $10.00 - tickets available in advance from the musicians or at the door The Greg Runions Group will feature: Dave Barton, guitar; Mike Cassells, drums; Artie Roth, bass; Chris Alfano, alto and soprano saxophone; Jon Stewart, Tenor Saxophone; Rich Underhill, baritone sax and bass clarinet; Blair Yarranton, trumpet; Taylor Donaldson, trombone Greg Runions, vibraphone Composer/vibraphonist Greg Runions is a long time Kingston resident who has been active in the jazz scene in the area. He leads his own big band and small groups. Greg also teaches at Queen's University and Napanee District secondary School. Greg's big band was recently featured with the Kingston Symphony in their hugely popular sold out show Best of the Big Bands - The Swingin' Singers. Greg has recorded two independent jazz recordings. One with his big band, Sweet Home Suite and another with his small group, But Not Forgotten. Connections East Connections East will see the Greg Runions Big Band and musicians from this group collaborate with jazz musicians and composers from areas east of KIngston. In their first project in this series they will be working with noted jazz trumpet player and composer Paul Tynan. For this concert the band will be a small ensemble of 6 horns plus bass, drums, guitar and vibes.
