![]() | between a bach 3c and 7c? Hello I own 2 trumpets. An original martin committee delux and a bach mercedes. I f i'm playing the mercedes i play with the 3c as it is comfortable and gives a good full sound. If i'm playing the martin I play the 7c because I find to sound 2 open with the 3c. I dont find the 7c comfortable. Is there a mouthpiece that will give me the tighter tone of the 7c with the comfort of the 3c? I would like also to try a shillke piece. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: between a bach 3c and 7c? The Bach 5C has just about the same diameter as the 7C but without the same sharp rim. For even more comfort, try the 5B--the rim is a little rounder and the total cup volume is larger than a 1C! Have fun!

I'd like to throw one other piece in there for your consideration...it's like a 3C, but has a slightly tighter throat and a medium cup. It's the Marcinkiewicz *E3/3C. You won't have to get used to a new rim and it sounds to me like what you're looking for. I see this mouthpiece for sale from time to time in the classified area of this and other trumpet forums, but you can get a good price on them from Dillons Music or any other company that carries Marinkiewicz mouthpieces. I don't recommend mouthpieceexpress.com because they are always back-ordered and they don't tell you that up front. They take your money and can't give you a delivery date. I have a problem with that. Anyway, sorry about that tangent, and good luck with the hunt! -M | |

![]() | Re: between a bach 3c and 7c? My 2 cents: the Yamaha Shew Jazz. Super comfortable rim, 3C equal but provides a touch more resistance, more than my 15B does. Very versatile piece and note very expensive. They show up on ebay from time to time. Ed Mann MySpace.com - Ed Mann - 51 - Male - LA, California - www.myspace.com/jazzlips |
