![]() | Re: Bobby Shew v standard The Shew Mouthpiece arrived today and after a short blow on it, I've got to say I am pleased I made the purchase. It seems a little warmer whilst still retaining dexterity. My sound is open throughout my range. Rowuk said the rim may be a pivotal factor. The rim seems more comfortable than the standard 15c4 I was playing. It is still very early days though. Thanks to everyone who gave advice especially the offer of a free one. That knocked me out. What a gesture. |

![]() | Re: Bobby Shew v standard Rowuk asked that I give some feedback. I know he said after weeks but I think my mind is made up.I threw discretion to the wind and packed only my new shew and shew flugel to do a four hour jazz gig. I thought if I packed my old piece, I might chicken out.(I know this may not seem like a sane act given the fact that I had only had them for a day and a half prior to the gig) They were terrific. I was really happy with my sound and I played about as well as I ever have. There were a heap of professional players there who had driven down from the Gold Coast to hear us and they all commented on my sound and the easy with which I changed from trumpet to flugel which has been the problem in the past. My endurance surprised me and i felt more connected to the horn than I have felt in a while. I have always been keen on experimenting with tonal colour. There was plenty of variety and depth in my sound.I went for everything and was as solid at the end of the gig as at the beginning. I am really happy. On my mouthpiece safari, I usually revert to my old mouthpiece after about two to three hours in a work situation. Even if it were in the case, I wouldn't have been interested in going there. There may be a delayed honeymoon slump, but I doubt it. I think I have arrived at my mouthpiece destination. |

![]() | Re: Bobby Shew v standard Well, it has been a month and I am still delighted with the Shew mouthpieces. I've had a fair few gigs, given the time of year and i have never had so many compliments about my sound and the tonal colours that I can produce. Think I'm set for a good while. |

![]() | Re: Bobby Shew v standard I have now been playing the Shew jazz and Shew Flugel Horn mouthpieces for months. I have been working solidly and they give me the tonal colours that I have been searching for. You know how it feels when you try on a perfect fitting suit? Since the first blow, these mouthpieces have felt right. I will be listing my safari mouthpieces on ebay. Going off to practice.Cheers |

it is GREAT that your mouthpiece safari was so short. Congratulations! Now that you have had some time, we can speak of a "lasting" impression that is significant! Just a simple question: how did you know what tonal colours that you were "searching for"? I generally find colors that I never knew existed........
