screamingmorris has a spectacular aura about
broken case latch

If a very fancy old Bach trumpet case has a broken-off latch (the hinged upper part is broken off), is it possible to get a replacement part and install it?

The base of the latch looks like it is intact and attached to the case,
but the half of the latch that swings up and down in opening and closing the case appears to be missing.
So I would need a replacement tongue-shaped part that would fit into the hinge and then I would slide the new pin through the hinge.

Re: broken case latch

A repair shop should have parts for fixing cases. I know mine does.

Re: broken case latch

If your repair guy doesn't have one to repair it with, then find a luggage shop.

Morris,

Is this what you're looking for?

Instrument CASE HINGE Trumpet Trombone other brass etc. - eBay (item 7345900724 end time Jun-09-08 21:22:26 PDT)

I've seen these somewhere else on eBay, too. Maybe Clay at Centex Brass?

Good luck!

Bill
