Different mouthpieces for pistons nd rotaries

My Question is addressed to those who use on regular basis both rotary and piston trumpets in their practice:

Do you use different mouthpieces when playing pistons and rotaries and how different are they?

Re: Different mouthpieces for pistons nd rotaries

I sometimes use a mouthpiece with a slightly deeper cup for my bflat rotary. For my rotary piccolo, I use the same mouthpiece as my piston pic.

Re: Different mouthpieces for pistons nd rotaries

I use a German mouthpiece for my Bb & C rotaries which has a little narrower rim that my Bach 1B. I do not have a rotary piccolo, but if I did I think I would use my regular piccolo mouthpiece.

Conventional wisdom holds that a 24 throat and a 24 backbore lowers the g above the staff on Monke trumpets a bit.

My Monette E2 mouthpiece works perfectly on my B&S hybrid C.

My lead mouthpieces sound like "ca-ca" on rotaries.

Re: Different mouthpieces for pistons nd rotaries

I used a deeper cup for the rotary for many years (Monette B2D vs a B2 for the piston trumpets). Now I have the deeper mouthpiece on the piston trumpets too.
I tried shallower mouthpieces but think that that does not fit the character I expect from the rotary.

The original Monke (from Cologne) mouthpieces had a very deep bowl shape. In Dresden before the second world war, there were cup shaped but a very round transition to the throat. I have never seen an old mouthpiece in Germany with a monster backbore. There were quite a few models with cookie cutter rims however.
