I'm using a Conn 3C with my Bb trumpet. I like the soft/rounded rim, and the general performance of the moughpiece. I'd like to not have much of an adjustment going from that mouthpiece to my Flugelhorn mouthpiece. Therefore, what mouthpiece would you in the know recommend for my Couesnon Flugelhorn?

Hey Crow!

I am a big fan of deep, V-cups for flugelhorn, and find the Bach flugel mouthpieces a little too trumpet-like. Mark Curry makes a line of mouthpieces based on Mt. Vernon Bach rims, (although the inner rim, the "bite" will most likely be sharper than your 3C) and can supply the right shank for your Couesnon. I myself use a Reeves mouthpiece; it is smaller than my normal ones, but I find this combination provides a compact but more "horn-like" sound, kinda' shy, but that is the sound I look for on flugel. The Bach 3C should give you a familiar rim, but maybe not the sound you are looking for.

Vulgano, Good to be back! I really like comfort on the inner rim. Right now I'm using a Marcinkiewicz BSCFL. It gives a beautiful sound, but I believe it's messing up my embocure when I go back to my 3C. If I played Flugel all the time It would be perfect. I want to be able to go from my trumpet to flugel and back without a sense of lip adjustment. Am I asking the impossible?.............. crow

I would recommend that you use a flugel mouthpiece with the same rim and diameter as your trumpet mouthpiece-this makes it easier to switch back and forth-that's my expierence anyway-good luck :)
