I plate all of my mouthpieces in gold. Smoother, warmer and less grippy than silver.

I use the home plating system that Caswell Plating markets. A small 1.5 volt transformer, anodes. The 4 ounces of 24k plating solution costs $22 and does 3 mouthpieces. I usually leave em hanging in the solution for 3 minutes each. If the plating starts to wear out then I just plate them again.

You also can just plate the rim by masking off the retained silver areas with nail polish. After plating use polish remover and your done.

Clean and degrease really well (acetone) before plating for best coverage results.
