![]() | Help with Curry Mouthpieces Hey all, So I had been looking at the Curry 600 series for a long time - ever since I had a chance to play a 90S and have some success on it last spring... however, it just never became critical enough for me to go and buy one. This year for Christmas my girlfriend bought me a 60S and I've been playing it as much as I can to try and make up my mind about it (she got it from Mouthpiece express and it is still on the 15 day trial period - although that is quickly running out), and I've found that I love the results that I'm getting from it, but that as I play my lips swell a little bit, and that it becomes harder to play out of the staff (in either direction, but especially above). My thought is that I need to switch to a larger size but I'm not sure how much of a switch I should make. I feel like if I make to minimal a change, I may still have the problems that I'm having now, whereas if I make to big of a switch I might not be getting the same quality results. For comparison, the only mouthpiece that I own is a Yamaha 16C4, and I use it for absolutely everything. I've been hoping to find a mouthpiece to help me out a little bit on some of the high stuff and this Curry is really promising, but not quite there. I'd like to hear from anyone who's played on both an S and an M (any diameter), and let me know if it's a significant difference or not. Right now I'm leaning towards sending it back for a 70M, but I'd like to get any other opinions about what other Curry models (not even necessarily a 600 series) might be a good substitute. Thanks! |

| New Friend | Re: Help with Curry Mouthpieces I played for a long period Curry's mps until I felt I needed a change in rims and sound so I switched to Reeves. I own a 60S but used it very seldom cause it is a very very shallow piece... I prefer the 60M with its more reasonable cup which helps lips to vibrate faster but without that feeling of extreme compression which "burns" my lips after a short while. If you feel that 60 is a comfortable diameter for you try the M cup and see the difference. Remember that both cups are intended for lead playing..

![]() | Re: Help with Curry Mouthpieces Thanks, I'm pretty settled on trying the M cup.. with the rim, I'm just trying to find something that lines up with the Yamaha 16C4, and after looking around I think I'm going to go with the 70M. |

![]() | Re: Help with Curry Mouthpieces I was thinking about grabbing a 600 to try out for jazz band and marching band. What would be comparative to a 5C... My only qualm is I want to keep all my rims fairly simular in size and I am thinking about tryign a 3C so I dont know what the order I should do it in is.
