![]() | Sorry if I'm going in a different direction, but I always thought that personal listening devices with earbuds were invented so that you didn't have to turn the volume up very high to experience the music. The idea is that they supposedly provide high quality sound by blocking out most of the other noises in your listening environment. Thus, the idea behind these items are for you to not turn up the volume while listening. We had lawsuits in Louisiana because a couple joggers with earbuds could not hear oncoming traffic and got hit by cars. This was caused because the earbuds blocked out the other noises so very well. Those lawsuits were thrown out because it is the consumers responsibility to use the product within the intended usages. The iPod didn't cause teh joggers to not look both ways when approaching a street. In the cases of hearing loss, I'm sure that they will say that they were not using the iPods as intended by Apple. If they win this one, then I'm going to file suit against our kitchen knife company because last year I cut myself while preparing dinner. By the way, I love my earbud because they fit inside my shooter's muffs that I use while moving the lawn. I can listen to SOFT music while cutting the grass. That's the only time I use them!
