Re: "Miles Davis" Flugelhorn Mute!

By the way- I have an Art farmer anecdote, from back in the day: While I was Jammin' with Pony Poindexter one night at Berlin's Jazzgalerie Club, I noticed Art Farmer come in & sit down at a table, up near the front. It was November, '69 and Art had probably just finished a gig on one of the Jazztage Concerts over at Philharmonie Hall. Well: It was'nt the end of the set, but as soon as the tune ended, Pony went up to the microphone and announced that a Great Musician had just arrived in the club -&- (by-way of inviting him up onto the bandstand) Pony Capped his Intro with: ..."Meine Damen und Herren- Art Farmer!" Well- while the audience applauded, Art stood-up, as everyone expected, but instead of heading-up to the bandstand, he grabbed his gig-bag and left! (Guess he just wanted to relax & hear some music after his own gig was over!) That's the only time I ever almost heard him play live! (-smile!) Later -Blue Brown!
