![]() | Re: Which Mouthpiece is your must have? For my own personal playing, I'm using a Curry 1B on my Bb and Eb, and a 1BC for my C trumpet. On my picc, I use a GR Haefner 7H*P. I was playing GR's exclusively, but I found the Curry mouthpieces match up better rim-wise on my face and also with my big horns. Intonation, response, clarity, etc. are all very much improved on my big horns. I still haven't found a piece that beats the Haefner on my P5-4, though.

![]() | Re: Which Mouthpiece is your must have? TMann, lack of money is a good reason one doesn't always buy the best. However, the "best" is elusive. Some are on a "mouthpiece safari" while others aren't They have particular horns and use the mouthpieces they have. Best wishes! lmf |

![]() | Re: Which Mouthpiece is your must have? It always seemed to me that the standard GR rims actually felt too wide to me. I could never really seem to get the right feel for the standard rims. I tinkered with the 67LX and the 67B-T, and I know the B-T was based more on a regular 1C, and the LX just felt like the rim was about a mile and a half wide. The B-T was much better balanced, IMO. My other go-to GR pieces were the Haefner's. I used the 1HC for a very long time on my C trumpet.

![]() | Re: Which Mouthpiece is your must have? If the perfect mouthpiece actually exists out there it's most likely made by GR. I try other makes but for the last five years or so have always ended up back on a GR of some sort. Right now I'm flip-flopping between a GR 64MS and 64S. I think I'll try to hang with the MS cup with that #2 bore for now-- sort of like baby bear's porridge, not too hot and not too cold. Otherwise, believe it or not, the best playing "regular" mouthpiece (for me, for what that's worth)... what I'd probably be using if not for the existence of GR, is the humble little plastic Kelly 7C (color optional). Kelly's have been 'cussed and discussed at length-- but they play and sound great for me. You might prefer a different size (3C, 5C, etc) but you have nothing to lose but postage to try one out at places like Brasswind (wwbw). Same for GR-- Dillion's Music has a return policy with them, but the suckers are $140 new (ouch!). If you're patient you'll see many different GR sizes pop up used on ebay and the Marketplace, etc. for considerably less.
