My understanding, based on a conversation with a friend who was in Brazil and is a close friend of Marcus Bonna's, is that this is exactly what happened. It looks to me like this isn't a cheap knockoff--this is the exact thing, using the exact same materials fitted to the exact same specifications. Perhaps counterfeit was is wrong word.

Apparently they are not doing anything that is technically illegal in the United States, BUT THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT RIGHT.

Re: NY Flight Cases

there is no product on this earth that cannot be "ripped off", made a little cheaper and find a market. This has now happened with the Bonna bags.
Whether or not there is a legal issue or not, is up to the courts. A different stitch, screw or zipper is enough to block the law. I am sure that Marcus will just have to live with it - or continue to be so innovative, that the rest can't keep up. Music stores need margins to stay alive. Every percent helps, regardless where it comes from. Nobody is getting incredibly rich anymore.

Re: NY Flight Cases

Yikes! Didn't mean to start all that going. Regardless of the legal/ethical issues at stake here, I think I'm going to opt for a Bonna Case. Like on here, a post on the other site didn't turn up anyone who has had their hands on one of the NY Flight Cases either.
