I thought that Harry James actually used the *5* model? Like most things, there is a good chance that I may be wrong... Not bad mouthpieces though! Blessings,

Reverend, You are right, I thought it was 5.5, But I stand corrected. It was a 5. Sorry for the incorrect info.

There's a guy in our municipal band, probably our best all around player in the section, that had an old beat up Parduba he used when the notes got high and his chops got tired. He tried to get a new one and not a music store in town had ever heard of one. He got one off the internet and really likes it for some of the times he needs it- and he gets a very "Harry James " tone on it also. I tried it a few times and will stick to my GR's. I've been on enough mouthpiece safaris. It's time to start learning to play what I have.

Greetings I have the standard 6 Parduba and an HJ 5 and 5.5. I like the HJ models the best because they have a brighter sound and easier upper register. I can use them for any and all types of music. Although I do play other brands the Pardubas are some of my favorites. The nice wide rims are more comfortable than the Bach wide rims or the Rudy Muck models. Less bite is felt near the cup entrance. Most other players who have compared them agree with me that they have less bite than the Bach and Muck's so I guess im not crazy best Dave Littleton

Hello, Dave ... ... and welcome to the TrumpetMaster Forum. Nice to have you "chime in" on this topic. As I have posted, I am a long-time Parduba user, and like you, I also use other mouthpieces -- for specific applications on certain horns. The Parduba mouthpiece does take a long while to master, however -- probably much more "woodshedding" may be necessary than with other "standard"-branded pieces. I would like to re-iterate that they are wonderful on Trumpets, but do make the Cornets sound too "Trumpety". Better to use a classic deep "V" mpc on Cornet. Never tried the Fluegelhorn mouthpieces, though ... anyone with personal experience -- ?? Robert Rowe

Re: Parduba Mouthpieces I play both a Parduba H.J#5 and a #3. I use a #3 on my French Selmer trumpet and a #5 on my Vintage King Super 20. They're the only mouthpieces I care to use and I can hit D&E above the staff with considerable ease. I'm looking for a Parduba MP for a an early Holton/Chicago Couturier new proportion cornet c.1912. Want a shallow cup but comfort at the rim so will try a #4 I think. Jerry Stephenson member since early 2007.
