![]() | Just be thankful you don't have to do the reverse exercises (pulling out rather than pushing in) I do them while driving and if I have to stop at lights I get very funny looks. Mind you the exercises plus the quite playing and the tongue level work has made a huge difference to my reliability as a player. |

![]() | I have played a 3D on my Bb for ages and recently went to a 3B. It gives me a much deeper sound. (duh?) I have played a 7E on my picc for years. I recently started trying the Vizzutti Marcinkowiez on the picc. Man does it ever increase my range. I was pushing for G's on the 7E, and I've got easy A's on the Vizzutti. But the sound doesn't have the depth that the 7E has. Do you suppose that I can learn to produce a deeper sound with the Vizzutti?

![]() | I was playing on an AP1-5 with the Kanstul (F. Besson) piccolo I was using and did okay. When I tried the same mouthpiece with my larger bore Schilke picc I found the that the upper register really sagged. I just had to work too hard to keep the pitch up where it needs to be. I have since spoken with Dean Comley at Monette and he recommended I try an AP4-LD mouthpiece. This will give me a smaller rim with a fairly shallow cup that has been deepened just a bit to preserve some warmth to the sound. I am to have the mouthpiece delivered in a couple of weeks. I sure hope it works out! Kevin |
