![]() | Re: Playing on new mouthpieces Hi rowuk, I see you sneaking in to steal some of my Helmholtz resonator surprises, thank you very much. Bravo! I was intending to head off into the discussion of physical volume but you beat me to the punch some great insight. I really like where this discussion is heading, as I've been thinking about how these things work for years. The next sub-topic should include the frequency content of real-time variable non-rigid masses (lips) under forced vibration (buzzing), as well as its coupling with the frequency attenuation capabilities of a variable volume Helmholtz resonator (mouthpiece cup with buzzing lips and minute embouchure changes). This is where "just do it" is much easier than trying to explicitly model the physics. More in a bit, gotta go make dinner for the kids! |

![]() | Re: Playing on new mouthpieces well, guys, can we stay on topic, even tho i do enjoy the mouthpiece theory, i learn new stuff everyday! Like i said before, i'm not interested in getting cheater mouthpieces, or anything outside the relm of 3-10 1/2 Cs, i was just wandering why i can't play as well on one mouthpiece as i do on another |

![]() | Re: Playing on new mouthpieces The short version is that your face plus the mouthpiece plus the horn is a system. A particular mouthpiece will match with your face better than another to interface you to the horn. That's all it is. If you want to know WHY, then you have to pay attention to the theory. Tom |
