I guarantee the Torpedo Bags will not cause valve damage. They are designed very well and is by far the best case I've owned. I have carried Calicchios, Schilkes, Taylors, Bachs, and a multitude of others in these cases and never had a single problem with valves or any other parts of the horn. Let me know if you have any questions and I would encourage you to go check out the cases for yourself.

Matt

What Matt said. I've looked at trumpets with heavy bottom caps and often thought "Yeah, but what can you buy to carry the horn in?". With the Torpedo there wouldn't be a problem. I'm looking at my case and I'm betting you could put a horn in there with heavy caps that are 1" longer than normal caps without running any interferece problems with either bottom caps OR valve buttons.

Awsome, I was just about to ask about that!

My Kanstul 1500A has the heavy caps and I can't find a decent case anywhere that it would fit in nicely. I'm still using the big/ugly case from Kanstul. It's huge, it looks like a double case even though it's only a single!

So, you think this case would work, right?

If you set the horn on it's bottom valve caps (assuming you have heavy caps on all three valves) and measure vertically from the table-top to the top of the bell rim... and if that measurement is no more than 7-1/2", then "Yes", it'll fit perfect. You could probably "squeeze" another 1/4" or so but you'd be advised to have a return policy just in case you don't like the way it would fit in.

The new cases Steve has designed is a different inside padding that the "1st generation" cases. The padding is much better suited to the shape of a trumpet and holds the horn better than the already great 1st generation case.

camelbrass will become famous soon enough
I have one of the older bags as well. My Taylor fits very nicely...5 1/2 ins bell, heavy bottom caps and all. I've never had any trouble with caps unscrewing and although the horn fits firmly it's still easy to remove.

Regards,

Trevor
