Re: The Wedge

I used to play a B2 or B4s. Now I'm strictly all Wedge (once my flugel piece arrives). Here are some clips from last night! For me the Wedge outplays any other thing I've tried. I've tired a few ;)

buncha new clips from last night

These clips I used a Kanstul Mariachi (990, not 991... awesome horn!) and my trusty Wedge 3c... this mix is way worse than the raw file. I'm trying a new mixing software. Cut and paste each link into your browser.

Re: The Wedge

It's in Canadian dollars, but it doesn't matter much these days. It's pretty much the same as the American dollar.

Re: The Wedge

Well, according to an online converter, 200 Canadian equals about 197.55 American dollars. There's 2.45 for an ice cream or something else. :)

Re: The Wedge

Anyways, what's the reason for such a high price for a mouthpiece? Isn't the metal worth, like, only 20 bucks for each mouthpiece?

How many times have you had to pay for something and just pay for materials? That would mean at a restaurant you would pay probably $3 for a meal. Or less than $100 for a top of the line trumpet.
The mark up is there because of the tooling that has to be made to make the mouthpiece, the time it takes to make one and the craftsmanship needed to make one. Also account that it is a business and businesses are started to make money.

Why do people pay millions for paintings? It is just a can of paint on a piece of canvas.

Re: The Wedge

If you can make it yourself, just go ahead. I suspect it will cost you a few thousands to just make one mouthpiece like the Wedge :)

Well, I mean, most mouthpieces are around 50 to 80 dollars retail, and rarely go very far over 100, even the special mouthpieces like the ones listed on NYTC website or some of the more expensive ones listed on WWBW. So how come pieces like monette, wedge, GR, etc. are so much more?
