![]() | What the equivalent to a Bach 1d I currently play on a Bach 1D Meagtone mouthpiece. I feel as though its almost the perfect mouthpiece however my biggest problem with it is the rim is very thin and cuts into my lips. Ive gotten use to it for the most part but i feel as though if I got a thicker rim I would increase my endurance a bit and be much more comfortable. by the end of the night i can barely play anything. So I was wondering what the equivalent mouthpieces would be to a Bach 1D Megatone with a thicker rim? What other brands should i look into? The specs of the piece: according to bach's website: #76 Backbore #26 (3.73mm) throat 17mm cup diamater medium-shallow cup any help would be appreciated. Thank you, -Rachit |

A shallow cup for a bright sound, a heavy mouthpiece to darken/thicken the sound up............ I think a standard 1C or 1 1/4C non-Megatone would give you a similar sound and be a lot more fun to play. Forget the specs, they are insignificant. That is why Bach makes a 1D Megatone - people buy according to the specs, not the results

![]() | Re: What the equivalent to a Bach 1d Try and find a 1 1/2C or 1 1/4C to see if the rim is what you like as they are the same size but have a slightly different shapes and cups. The 1 1/2C is listed as being more comfortable (more rounded nature). You could always go after other stuff (brands) near that piece with different rim shapes. If you really like a 1D but the rim is too sharp you could get a custom mouthpiece. Say a 1 1/2D from Bach. Just might be your ticket to happiness.

It's and STC-2 so could be described as a megatone the B12 size is similar to a Bach 1c vs 1 1/4c LD S1 cup should feel like a Bach D cup. Throat #21

![]() | Re: What the equivalent to a Bach 1d Ill try looking into the monette. Thank you, By the way the reason i use a 1d megatone is so i can keep the beautiful tone of the 1c but help with range slightly my range is built and i play lead most of the time. the d cup just gives me the help i need on the upper register but the megatone brings back the tone i like if i get any shallower itll help with the high range but it sounds bad to me. I guess a option i havent looked into is a shallower cup with weight addition using trim kits. by the way what do you think about that stuff? I chose this mouthpiece using trial and error. I didnt know anything about the specs when i got it actually just looked up the specs to put them on the post for this forum to see if anyone knew anything close to it. I just was looking for a bigger mouthpiece when i got it origianally. By the way i give it two thumbs up if you havent tried it well with the exception of the rim. Thank you for the help -Rachit |
