I would agree with the Wolfpak 2.5 picc case. It provides great protection, style and not too expensive.

Thanks, guys! From PRO TEC Cases

Howdy all.

Thanks for the positive comments, and thanks for choosing PRO TEC!

If you guys (and gals) have any product questions or suggestions, please feel free to let me know. I have been designing ProTec cases for a few years, and I am do the majority of the case 'fixes' and adjustments to the production models.

Nice meeting you all.

camelbrass will become famous soon enough
Hi there,

Welcome Jeff. I must admit that my favourite case is the pro-tec contoured leather...can't carry the mutes and music (like the Torpedo) but it has no problems on a plane anywhere in the world as hand luggage and looks very classy. I also have a pro-tec flugel case which is certainly utalitarian and well protected but large and I'd dearly love to be able to carry on a single flugel case ...any plans for a single flugel in leather? (actually the only up-market single flugel case is Walt Johnson).

Regards

Trevor

Jeff,

I just wanted to say that I still think the same about my ProTec case now as I did when I made my original post over on page 1 of this thread last November. The ProTec combo case is, in my opinion, THE best bang for the buck that you can get out of a combo case. It holds and protects two horns, 4 mouthpieces, a 1" music binder, my plexiglass sound shield, plus a plethora of other gig accessories such as pencils, a tuner, batteries (for my mic and in-ears pack) valve oil and anything else that I can think of that I might need for the gig. It holds all of that stuff with room to spare. I still think that it is the most practical and usable case that I have ever owned, to include my all-leather tripple Reunion Blues bag.

One thing though. Paul Artola came over yesterday and wanted to see if his Lawler Flugel would fit in my combo case because he had heard so many great comments about the ProTec combo case. Unfortunately, the Lawler flugel does not fit. It is too tall. I suppose that he could pull the foam blocks out and "adjust" for size by cutting them down a bit, but when he left yesterday, I think he was still at a loss for just what to do about his combo case dilema. I mean, why buy a case that you know beforehand is not going to fit your horn?

But that's HIS problem. The case works like a champ for me!

Thanks, Patrick, for letting us invade your house and letting me verify the PB-301F is just a smidge too small for my new Lawler flugelhorn. I think it would also be too small for my Getzen Capri too, since these both seem to be about the same size. You are so right about a slight modification in the depth of the blocker pads making it work, but I want to be sure no stock cases work before I start hacking a new case. What a dilemma.

I still hope to check out the new Vax case, which might still work for me. Problem is getting time to visit a dealer in the area who has one in stock. Time is always the killer!

Ok, get back to finishing that basement!

Time. Yes, you are correct. We never seem to have enough of it, do we?

I hope that you find a stock case that works for you. That's the trouble with flugels. They are all built so differently and most of the time it seems like horn manufacturers design their flugel cases with a specific horn in mind. For instance, my flugel won't fit in the case designed for the Yamaha 631 flugel.

Good luck in your hunt! :)
