![]() ![]() | Re: Advice needed on career change Go to trade school and learn welding. Talk it over with your local pipe fitters union. They can provide you with a pathway and possibly train you. Good pipe line welders and out of position welders are in demand. You can learn the trade in nine months depending on schools available.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Advice needed on career change I went to work for the Seattle's Union Gospel Mission's Women and Children's Shelter after a re-schooling. The same kind of passion I put into my playing went into my work there (and important work, too, with homeless moms and kids and heartbreak and such!) and was a real quick burn-out--a good burn-out, but a burn-out the same. See if the Administrator will offer you a Moderator post here. Easy hours, fun folk to work with. No women, though.

![]() | Re: Advice needed on career change First I would pick an industry that you want to be involved with. You can stay in music. There are a lot of music jobs that aren't retail. Get a job for Selmer. Look for a music wholesaler. You could get a job at Guitar Center and work your way through the company. I think you will find the first three or so levels go fast. Sales is a way to make money if your cut out for it. If you have the discipline to practice you should be OK. The degree gets you in the door with jobs but, it's you that will get you ahead. |
