Mikey is on a distinguished road
Lara and Alex are completely innocent in all of this. It's us men and our one-track minds that are responsible.....

tom turner has a spectacular aura about
Yes . . . trophy deer, elk and moose hunting is BIG BUSINESS out west. The revenue generated by hunters for fees, licenses, lodging, meals, equipment, etc. brings in huge amounts of money. Bagging a trophy animal also costs the hunter thousands of dollars more if the hunter kills one too!!!

Most hunters from other parts of the country save lots of time by flying to and fro . . . and those HUGE RACKS cost them a LOT of money to get. The racks are cherished for the rest of that hunter's days on earth, and are surely not just thrown away.

Naturally, they want to bring those racks home! The racks must be handled as "fragile," for they are very sharp . . . and incredibly strong . . . and could damage other things packed around them. As a matter of fact, if someone fell on them they might be killed.

Many a man has been killed, after carelessly messin' around with a huge rack!

Well, big rack or small, as long as there is great beauty and symetry to the rack I like 'em! Never had one hurt me yet though.....

I'd say that pretty much hits it on the head.

Those babies are solid not hollow; so, they're nothing to toot around with.

Alex Yates has a little shameless behaviour in the past
In all honesty, I never expected this thread to go where it went. I was truly speaking of the obsurdity of the airline rules and was not the person who began referring to "racks".

I have been overseas the entire time this thread has been taking some crazy turns and was pretty shocked to read what has transpired. While most of it is meant in good fun and most of the time I am a good sport, I find this to be disrespectful and juvenielle to be honest. I will even go as far as saying that a couple of you stepped over the line and I am not happy at all with the disrespect shown to myself (and Lara) on this very public forum. I am still overseas, but this bothered me enough that I didn't want to wait until I returned and had to chime in.

Mikey, I thank you for your frankness and honesty. Your point is 110% correct.

[quote]There is a very large industry in the collecting and selling of deer and elk antlers, rams horns, etc. They use them for high-end furniture, and you can get a hefty price for some good racks...enough to buy you a high-end horn.

Yoder, do you have any phone numbers? I was glassing the small herd that lives on a ranch here in the middle of Carson and found a big buck. From what i could see and count, he goes about 8 points on a side, maybe more. I know of a couple of other big bucks around this area with trophy size racks. I never thought about collecting the dropped horns and selling them! I do need a couple of new horns though..............
