Amen Toots!!!

Lara, this is a really difficult subject to use for this exercise. Especially by e-mail or instant message. Best of luck.

I think sticking to individuals in your own age group and face to face discussion is going to be key. Toots is making an excellent point on the "do as I say (and believe in) and not as I do" reply.

Sex, Religion, Politics and Money.... oh boy... egos, self righteousness, intolerance...

How about you reach in this box of vipers and get the 100 dollar bill out?...

Regardle of personal viewpoint, the concept of being able to play Devil's Advocate in this sort of discussion is a very useful ability in life.
Whilst studying I would usually take an opposing view to one of my friends - the reason wasn't because we necessarily disagreed, but because when we had done the research we both knew that the debate would be more interesting - there would be at least one person on each side who could make a good case for their side.
The teacher soon caught on to this and enjoyed the fact that both of us could argue positions completely against our point of view

That's what he tells us. But the truth is, he's just arguementative, isn't that right, Mike?

is this project being developed from a christian view? general or specific church grouping?

marriage has a different slant than we're used to in some cultures/sub-cultures.

But isn't that the purpose of debate? To bring the different viewpoints together in an open and honest discussion? If we all had the same viewpoint based upon our faith, politics, culture, etc. then there wouldn't be much to debate. "Just read the rules and obey". If we were all "the same" then we would all be replaceable by someone else. It is in diversity that the individual IS an individual and therefore unique and irreplaceable.

Toots, aren't you in Canada? I thought that stuff only happened in the US...

You have a great point and ask an excellent question. Canadian Border Services are now checking things like laptop computers, cell phones, etc. searching for evidence of Child Porn. If you are bringing a computer across the border you would be very wise to ensure that you have "wiped" all .tmp files first... since we know that .tmp files can show up on your computer without your knowledge and without your conscious effort.

I'm as anti-kiddie porn as the rest of you (I hope!)... but this is starting to smack on the invasion of privacy and even though most law is based on the miscreant having the actual desire to commit an offence so a person could possibly claim that the .tmp files got on their without their knowledge, it sure has the potential for holding things up at airports and ports of entry.

It's not exactly a debate...I'm supposed to ask you questions, get your answers, and not really argue my perspective. At least, that's what I understand the topic to be.

I may be changing my topic, just because this is supposed to be a speech, and I really don't want to talk about this topic verbally. I'm fine writing a paper on it, but, talking about sex and stuff like that makes me a little uncomfortable.

So, I may still need some help, but, I think I will be changing my topic. I'm emailing my teacher about that to see if I can change my topic.

Thank you!
La
