It depends on what type of snow you have and how much. Wet, heavy snow requires a heavier engine to throw it----figure on a 10 to 12 horse. You also have to look at how much snow you get. In Tahoe, last winter, I had 12 feet on the ground. The snowblower of choice up here is a Honda with a big engine. They throw snow twice as far as any other rig and when you have 8 to 1o ft. berms you need that to clear the top.

I prefer Honda. But I don't know if they put those on snow blowers. I've never been in the market.

I have a Kubota BX2230 tractor with a front end loader. It has 4 wheel drive, 22 horse power and can lift 450lbs of any type of stuff. We had our first snow flurries this morning. However, I have a 450' long driveway, so it still may take me a while.

The BEST "snowblower" is a ticket to Hawaii (Mexico, Aruba, Majorca, etc) c/w a prepaid condo for the winter. *sigh*... wish I had one.
