Re: concert band class

I started playing C trumpet in high school. Easy music is harder when you're learning to transpose too!

Re: concert band class

Start up a brass group of the only good people in your band. Come the end of the year, ask if you can be featured in the Senior Graduation Ceremony.

When you have a bunch of good players, you can afford to mess around and have fun during the practice sessions :) And trust me, there are good players in every section! How do you think they got first chair in the first place?

edit: I'm sorta in your boat. I'll be hitting the Symphonic Band, which is where the best upperclassmen get into. There are two our of eight trumpet players that don't suck. We have one good tuba, two good baritones, a really good french horn player, and a pretty decent Trombone. We can't get into the grad ceremony as we were hoping, but the entire marching band is gonna love(for a little while) hearing us play to each other every day throughout the whole season :P

I can tell already it lightens the mood when we play snippets of "The Hipster" before class even starts
