Re: Finally, my studio!

Absolutely! Mike and John, you must make it next year. With it being in Banff, it will be impossible to resist. A group photo would be WONDERFUL. I will save a space on the wall for it. Between you two (and Toots), it will take a tall lense. LOL.

Eclipsehornplayer! I like the new name and Avatar! Have a couple of questions though. First: is this the caption of your new Avatar?

Re: Finally, my studio!

Speaking of mud. I was in Huntsville last Fall. I saw the most red soil I could every believe existed. Is it clay and have any of you tried to fire it in a kiln?

Alex, I think I see that your roof is oriented the long direction. So the gable is on the long direction and the eaves are on the short direction. Is that correct? I am getting more ideas. Thinking outside the box.

Re: Finally, my studio!

Here's to hoping! I am going to try to plan/budget for it so we'll see. I'd be honored to be in that photo!

Weather you're speaking for yourself or not I guarantee you that I'm needing the WIDE lens more then you so know that as you stand next to me you'll feel a lot better about your own appearence!

Again, I am only speaking for myself.

Thanks Jerry; it just seemed to be the right thing to do!

I like the caption idea even though it was unintended and alas; you're correct I"m indeed seated next to a pesky violist that about mid way through the Easter gig that picture was taken at was about to receive my wrath. I kept being poked in the ribs with the bow!

Is it clay and have any of you tried to fire it in a kiln? <---- I remember going to upstate NY as a kid and swimming in creeks where you could literally dig up pure gray clay from the banks with your hands and build whatever your hands could create. Standing in that cool, clear water as it rushes by and molding things from nature's clay is a nice way to spend a hot summer day. Nice memories.

Alex, I think I see that your roof is oriented the long direction. So the gable is on the long direction and the eaves are on the short direction. Is that correct? I am getting more ideas. Thinking outside the box. <----well, the inside measures approximately 32X25. The gable does run in the long direction. My room is 16X25. I have been playing with color palettes on the Behr paint website (great tool if anyone has painting projects coming up). I am going with sky/twilight colors. Tranquil vibe. I am still nowhere near reaching a decision. LOL. I have never had the luxury of choosing these kinds of things before.

The outside will definitely be a dark, barn red (blue-based) with bright white trim and accents. I will take pictures of the outside soon. There are doors on the north side that I kept for cosmetic reasons. I think it will look charming. For Mother's Day I drove through NW GA to see my mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law and there are still many true barns. They look nice against log homes and greenery and are also in line with the true nature of what once exisited here in Kennesaw.

Jim
Thanks for all of your tips on and off the board Jim. They have been helpful.
