"One day making tracks on the prairie of Prax came a North going Zax and a South Going Zax...." However, in your defense, "The Zax" happens to be in the same Dr. Suess book as the Sneetches. "Now, the Star-Bell Sneetches had bellies with stars. The Plain-Belly Sneetches had none upon thars." There was a time when I had to read all four stories in the book for bedtime book time, night after night after night. The Ship/lighthouse story has been around for quite some time in various forms, and usually it's to make fun of the skipper of a battleship.

![]() | This reminds of of the story of the Scotsman visitng the US for the first time and sitting between home plate and first base at a Cubs game. Ryne Sandberg was up to bat and had a full count...then the pitcher got a little wild for ball four. Ryne dropped his bat and cantered slowly toward first base, prompting the visiting Scotsman to his feet who yelled..."Run, laddie run!! Dinnae ya know!" The man sitting next to him noting obviously the visitor from across the pond was not wise to the ways of American baseball tugged on his sleeve and said..."hey pal, he gets to walk, he's got four balls!" The Scotsman stands up again and booms out "Walk with pride, laddie, walk with pride!!" Bill Mirrielees Asbury Brass Sextet Wild Bunch Dixieland Band Madison, Alabama |

![]() | Ahhh, now I understand the eyes and the humor. I had several ancestors actually from county Cork on the ol' sod. I have red hair, blue eyes, a temper and a warped sense of humor.... Why did God create whiskey? To keep the Irish from taking over the world!
