![]() | I don't know about you guys, but I constantly have computer problems. Since this is for non-trumpet related topics, I'd like to ask you how I can get sound back. The speakers work just fine and are hooked up just fine. I'm thinking some kind of soundcard must've crashed or sound driver (whatever those are, I know nothing about them). I find all kinds of sites that would let you install soundcards and sound drivers... for a fee that I will never pay. Whenever I google the word free, all I get are the free trial versions which really gets to me. Nowhere on the web can I find a site that would let me install a sound driver/card for free or to check on my sound and see what's wrong. iTunes does recognize that sound doesn't work and won't play any songs, so I know that the pc isn't completely oblivious to it's sound not working. Though when I go to the Sounds and Devices off the Control Panel, the Volume section, everything is shaded in grey (you know, when it won't let you click on something you see) and the Hardware section says that everything is working properly. I'm guessing some kind sound device is malfunctioning but you never know. I would strongly appreciate it if you guys could direct me to a site that would let you download a sound device for free or something that would solve this problem or give me the activation code and password to one that does need registration. It's always one problem after another with computers, I hate them. I'm open to any suggestions you have. THanks in advance.

![]() | Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!! Having computer problems: no sound Is this WinXP? Did you try removing the sound card, reboot, replace sound card and reboot? Is there a "sound.drv" file in your Windows\system32 folder?
