![]() | Van -- You've got a good sense of humor ... I like that! I lived in Tennessee for a year, and in the Shenendoah Valley for about 5-yrs, and, most recently, Long Island. Believe me, I have heard a lot of dialects and usage of the English (American?) language. The most difficult dialect to understand was of a room-mate in college from Northern Maine. His mother was a Penobscot Native American... and his father a French-Canadian. To this day, I could not tell you what in the h@ll he said when he spoke. I came to know that when he grunted, it meant there would be a foul smell very soon .... ...aarrrghhh ! Regards, Robert Rowe |

| Forte User | Hehe, whats the point of getting mad when you can have a sense of humor about something? Lord, most of you fellows wouldn't guess who I was in person, by the lazy innunciating and slang I use in person. Whats funny, is the connected we have become to the world, with internet and television, our slangs and dialects have started merging together. A majority of people in my region use a mixture of ebonics with southern twang. "Shee*t, you ain't not foolin, boo. Lets git on up and outta hur." Weirdest slang I have ever heard is in a little town south of Cookeville (TN Tech). I cant think of the name of the town, but they say "yurt" for "yes." "Youinses" is my favorite word, though. Van
