Ed, I do remember Jefferson Airplane. My, they were a great group when they used that name -- not the same when the morphed into Jefferson Starship. Woodstock was a little far for me to go to from Colorado. Besides that, I was marching to a little different beat. I was into Chicago (loved the brass), Maynard and Classical music while everyone else was into the Stones or Led Zeppelin. I was a pseudo Beatles fan. They were terrific early (i.e. Penny Lane) but got weirder as the times got weirder. Ed Sullivan was something else. I remember the Beatles, and Lovin' Spoonful on the show. Laugh In, Hee Haw, the Dean Martin show and Walt Disney talking to us on the "Wonderful World of Disney." My friends and I talked about the draft for the Vietnam war. Some talked about going to Canada. My number never came up and the war was winding down anyway. I was not in favor of dodging the draft -- but some of my friends did. I owned a TI99 computer, and a Commodore 64, and an Apple II, and I bought one of the very first Macs the first year they were made (wrote my dissertation on it). But hey, I am not that old Or maybe I am. Jim

Chicago was a great band. Anybody remember "Canned Heat" or "the Fuggs"? Read Ken Keasey's books? (You're on the bus or off the bus). Kent State? Yep, what comes around, goes around. | |

![]() | Hey Tootsall and the rest, I'm the double nickle right now when it comes to measuring the years since my birth. I still think I'm thirty-five. But, Yes, the late sixties and the seventies. Great years. I think I am one of only a few who really liked the disco music being produced. I was also a big fan of the Blood, Sweat and Tears. The David Clayton Thomas period was their best, in my opinion. A fine lead singer he is. How about Sly and the Family Stone: Different strokes for different folks; The Buddy Rich Band, BS&T and yes The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). Oops, I mean Chicago. All truly Kick Butt Bands. Give me brass and I'm happy. I played in a cover band in the late sixties that first brought the Horn Section idea to the Rock & Roll sound that was currently being played by cover bands in the Great State of Tennessee. We were The Critical Mass Band - a nine piece Kick Butt Band patterened after the BS & T. I really liked those days.

| Fortissimo User | Yep, for sure. Those were the days of BANDS! Hmmm... since the youngsters around here seem to enjoy stories from us old guys maybe I should post something about Woodstock and how it came about that I attended it....and whether or not half the stuff on the DVD (or VHS) is true....... Of course, I should be careful about claiming to be too old... Wilmer is always sitting there looking over our shoulders! |

![]() | Toots, Your prospective on Woodstock would be something. I am not quite as old as you or Dale, but close enough. You might be the only person on the planet that attended Woodstock and was sober. In HS, I was a championship caliber golfer. My senior year, I was the only one on a 5 man team that wasn't dropping acid or using LSD. Strange times. Jim
