| Mezzo Piano User | Re: Ice Storm, February 2007 The look of the trees in the background is what amazes me. The ice on the street looks to be about 2 to 4 inches thick. I will miss those European winters.

| Fortissimo User | Re: Ice Storm, February 2007 Mike, I just "spoke" to a family friend who lives down south of Isny. Their house is up on the side of a hill in farm country (S.E. of Sigmaringen). They are enjoying coffee outside on the patio in 15 C degree weather this afternoon! |

![]() | Re: Ice Storm, February 2007 Okay, so what is the preferred method for de-icing a car under those conditions? I woudn't even know where to start short of waiting until the Spring thaw! I mean, seriously... what in the flamin' hootie hoo do you do when you have an inch and a half of ice caked ALL OVER your car? ML |

![]() | Re: Ice Storm, February 2007 I would probably use a blow dryer on the driver's side door. At least get in and get the car started and the heater turned on. Hopefully the warmth of the engine heat would at least melt the front of the car. (Make sure the air intake and exhaust are clear.) |

![]() | Re: Ice Storm, February 2007 A long (very long) extension cord? Another thing that would work is a steam cleaner. Sure, it would create more water, but all you would need to do is use the steam to melt the ice currently on the car. Then get in and move it... (It would help if you are on a hill, so the water could run off.......) |
