Myself.... if I had been more serious about my studies. and

You've heard the joke... "Hell is dying and meeting the person you could have been" ...

Seriously, I think I would love to play duets with Maurice Andre. To hear that sound right next to me for hours... and working to match it.

Clifford Brown

I wonder what the jazz world would be like if he had lived even 10 years longer.

Please don't laugh -- Jimmy Buffett!

I love his music -- it just makes me happy an when I feel down I put his music on my sound system. It never fails to cheer me up! I just think it would be fun to play with him for one night, or even for one tour.

About 2 years ago my former HS principal, Bob Russell, opened a restaurant and my HS band director, Jim Lunsford, came to the opening and sang a few tunes with us for the grand opening party. We had a blast talking old times. Some of the stories were actually true. He's passed on last year so this became a particularly memorable day.

I grew up in Fairfax and remember Jim Lunsford well. I had no idea that he had passed away. That is indeed sad news as he helped so many people as both a teacher and supervisor of music.

Did you go to Falls Church or Robinson? His bands at both schools were wonderful. When did you graduate? I had so many freinds that went to Falls Church, and I was actually zoned for Robinson but attended Woodson until my graduation since I had already started there.

Ol Jim Lunsford was quite a character. He passed away last October. You're probably familiar with his use of real shotguns for the cannons in 1812 at Falls Church around 1966. The police came to check it out ......Sure couldn't do that today. I'm Robinson class of '78. Rogerio, who posts here sometimes, went to both Falls Church and Woodson. The well known LA studio trumpeter Jon Lewis was a FC graduate as well. Send me a PM.
