![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I just won, and I don't know how I did it I kept pushing buttons and it said Mornington Crescent and said I had won. I don't get it! Wilmer

So...timidly I'll say: Lancaster Gate. (Please do tell me if I've completely messed this up!) Lara

![]() | Lara- I'll defer to the masters from across the pond. However, even though I am still in my novice period, I think you might have figured this game out...and after only an hour working on the applet!!! Have you found the Encyclopaedia Morningtonia? That helped me a lot. That first move looks like a good one. It's better to be lucky than good. Guys, is that move as smooth as I think it is? |

![]() | Make sure that you use the 1952 mini A-Z to source your moves....more recent abominations such as Barbican shouldn't be allowed!! So I'm starting somewhat obscurely at Aldwych. Dave, I need to have a ruling on Torvoldt's second premise before I can continue. Wilmer, you'll get it soon. Remember the 70s (or not?) Regards, Trevor |

![]() | Lara - your move (Lancaster Gate) was a superb demonstration of a back pass under curfew conditions. If we had been playing under some of the more obscure versions, we could have found ourselves in perpetual knid, but with current playing conditions as they are (and you will be pleased to know that the weather is leaving the field of play unaffected) it was a good move. I wish I could say the same for Pat's Ealing Broadway - Pat, I thought we had explained how to play this game Wilmer - nice game - shame it uses such outdated rules - not even a mention of Stovaldt (or Stovold) and their understanding of Minerva's Variations are very much set in the 1800's. As for not using the extended playing arena - hardly what I would expect, but then again - it has been designed for ANYBODY to play - hardly any skill required Now, wehere were we? Ah yes, Trevor had played Aldwych (and excellent move, but I would expect nothing less) and tried to mislead us with the 1952 reference (an excellent ploy Sir - that should keep Wilmer firmly out of the game Southfields (hopefully that will keep me out of knid for a move or two) |

![]() | Dave, You're right of course my move was intended to confuse and it may have not been fair to use so early on...I'll make my next move more fitting given the general level of player and will use a more suitable strategy. I'll go for the 'Bow Bells' defence and move to Whitechapel. Regards, Trevor PS You're supposed to use a trumpet to make music?....go on, pull the other one!!! PPS Mike are we using Beck's schematics or real geography? |

![]() | Dave - as we are using Windsor rules, I was (of course) referring to the Royal "We" - no need for team play in this game. Your point regarding Wilmer is well taken. PPS - Trevor - yes |
