![]() | Re: Memorial Day 2007 Thanks for the youtube link. I played taps many times at Arlington. I'm pretty sure the next to last picture is of Rick Leman, a wonderful trumpeter, solo cornet USMarine Band. It's fitting that he should be in this video |

![]() ![]() | Re: Memorial Day 2007 I attended a short Memorial Day ceremony at the U.S.S. Nautilus Museum in Groton, Ct. today. No bugler but nice ceremony none the less. I had a mouth piece but no horn. I toured the submarine with other tourists and the shore based museum. Then I spent the rest of the day at Mystic Seaport Museum. Jim

![]() | Re: Memorial Day 2007 There is a portion of a cemetary in Jackson, MS that was given by the city to the Dutch Government during WWII. There were a group of Dutch pilots that trained here and many were killed during training. Several that trained here and were killed during the war or died afterward have been returned here at their request for burial, the latest being yesterday when one was buried with full military honors, courtesy of the U.S. Army. An admiral of the Royal Netherlands Navy represented his Government. I have played taps several times at Memorial Services at this site. Every year the American Legion has a service there to honor these allies that fought with us and there is usually a representative of the Netherlands Government there. It is a good thing to remember these men. |
