Re: Not exactly on topic

I had coffee this morning. I'm totally trying to eat healthier too, but on a college meal plan it's kind of hard. It's like, you can eat this burger with a hard bun ... or these vegetables that are from who knows when (sometimes the lettuce or apples are brown ...) I do work out though. I've lost weight already though, of course I've been working out too.

Catering by Sodexho eh? They do a lot of colleges, and jails. Also, apparently, military bases these days. I was down at Lackland AFB for a sports thing once and I thought, "Oh boy, the food's going to be great, you know these flyboys eat well" well, it was awful! Junque all the way. I could not believe it, the food in the old 25th infantry was great compared to it. And a meal plan just has to make it worse, McCardboardburger, McWilt Fries, McQuestion vegetables, yuk.

The only good thing out of my visit to Lackland was, we were the guinea pigs for Powerade. Yep, they tried it out on us, and in that heat and humidity, we tanked it down. I thought they ought to carbonate it slightly and call it PowerBelch, but no one ever listens to me.....

Coffee! Yeah, More! Love the stuff! Just the coffee. No Additives!

Anybody remember the old Excederan (sp) Commercials!

I think that stuff had Caffine in the formula!

Don't forget to chase that coffee with plenty of water!

Caffeine is a good headache remedy actually. It is a vasoconstricter, which means it will reduce inflammation by reducing the diameter of blood vessels. Of course, most people were not popping Excedrin every morning. :)

Coffee also contains a lot of the same antioxidants found in red wine and chocolate. There are some schools of thought that the antioxidants and micronutrients are more valuable than the caffeine is detrimental.

The Germans have a cake that is an even mix of the above. It is similar to the American pound cake: one pound each of flour, butter, eggs, and sugar + a pound of dried fruits.

Somehow I don't think this is what Veery meant............. It does taste best with coffee though.....

Re: Not exactly on topic

Is that the Christmas cake, rowuk? I don't remember the name of it.

This Southern gal loves her some pound cake. Though it's not made with the traditional proportions anymore because people tend to like it sweeter and a little moister (more moist??).

They put those in there because there's bacteria or something like that that causes toxins growing inside the beans during processing ...

Re: Not exactly on topic

What? Huh? Antioxidants are naturally occurring nutrients that help prevent oxidation in the body. They aren't added. Where are you getting your info?
