![]() | Red Rodney Rides Again! My son bought me a USB turntable and I've been recording some records from my collection. I have 2000 jazz recordings, having collected jazz records since high school (I'm now in my early 50's). I just recorded three of Red Rodney's recordings, and I've fallen in love with his sound all over again. He'd be amazed that I can now listen to his playing on my Iphone or in the car. I've also just added three Horace Silver records and two Ruby Braff sides to my Itunes library. What GREAT technology we have!! |

![]() | Re: Red Rodney Rides Again! Hi there. The turntable I use is a cheapo by Ion. My son purchased in on Ebay. $100 delivered. While it is certainly not a high end unit, it does the job. I still prefer my "real" analog turntable with my stereo unit and speakers, but for the ipod use, it is fine. Last week I uploaded four Mingus albums and a vintage Louis Smith album from the late 1950's (AMAZING player!!). Check online and you can find a good deal on a USB turntable. It is basically plug and play once you download the software. Works well enough and easy to use. Good luck! |

![]() | Re: Red Rodney Rides Again! Hi there. Yes, a USB turntable makes it VERY easy to convert LPs to MP3 or Itunes files. Simply plug and play. Fidelity may suffer a bit, but these turntables are extremely easy to use and I am now listening to vintage Charles Mingus, Art Blakey, Art Pepper, and LOADS of other great artists that I've had on vinyl for 30 years! |

| Pianissimo User | Re: Red Rodney Rides Again! Just a note to all of you guys who might be interested in converting albums to MP3. If you already own a turntable and a computer, you can get a turntable preamp with a USB interface to use with your existing analog turntable. This will allow you to interface your turntable with your computer via USB. Get some software to do the audio editing of the files in the computer and voila! -- mp3s. bigtiny |

![]() | Re: Red Rodney Rides Again! You can also run from your Rec out (that would normally go to your tape deck) to the input on your sound card. I've been doing that for a while. Be careful! If you put an amplified signal into the card instead of line voltage, you will fry the card. (the voice of experience)
