Of course, the best shave is when you go to the barber and he uses the straight razor. They can't do it anymore in Massachusetts, I guess they passed a law. They have to use electric clippers. But the straight razor with the hot shaving cream is definately my favorite.

W T F ?

Are you serious? For barbers, as well? I know hair stylists can't do it because they don't get the same training as barbers. Man, are you sure? Not doubting you, just incredulous, honestly.

I used to go to a barber that used hot foam and a straight razor. Man, he would put me to sleep in the chair. But he stopped using a razor after AIDS made itself known. He told me his insurance company said it was too much of a risk.

I would love to find a barber that still uses a razor....

But Lara,

You can get away without shaving every day just by wearing long pants....It takes me a week before my beard turns from sandpaper to "soft and smooth".

(But then again, I'm glad I don't get PMS either)..........

I have a friend who is a very manly man - body builder type - and he shaves off his body hair. He says he just doesn't really care for it.

On the subject of face shaving, I've tried a lot of things to include the high end Schick and Gillette blades, but I find that for me, the most consistent shave I get is with the Gillette Good News razors (with the Lubri-strip, and a non-pivoting head) and Barbasol shaving cream. I like to be able to control the angle of the blades on my face, and the expensive gels either irritate my face, or make my face so sensitive that shaving becomes a painful chore. I have also found (based on a tip my father gave me a long time ago) that if your face gets irritated from shaving, that if you shave using cool or cold water, it will alleviate a lot of that. The caveat to that is that you won't get quite as close of a shave.

I'll use one of my disposable razors about 5-7 times before I chuck it, and I usually shave on weekends too.

BBW,
Is that where all the gangsters barbers moved to, Mass? "Yeah, go see my barber Vinny for a nice close shave... while the cement dries!"

Never had one... but I bet it's pricey!

Lara,
I have friends I cycle with that shave their legs. They are always asking my wife for shaving tips. They say it's helps when they crash in races... I think it's more to do with making the muscles look good. I believe the body builders actually shave their PITS too...

Hey Trickg,
Tomorrow is the day... we are off to the shooting range at 7AM. Wish me luck!

Actually, I don't really have to shave that often...my girlfriends are all jealous because I have very fine hair on my legs that just doesn't show. (Yeah...probably too much information) It's weird...I have brownish-reddish hair, but my leg hair is blonde.... (again, probaby too much information...sorry. )

I'm also allergic to a lot of the junk they put on razors, like all the herbal and vitamin junk that they have to "make skin" smoother....

I wear shorts and skirts and dresses in the summer because it's so stinkin hot up here, so I can't get away with not shaving. Plus, I swim a lot.

I'll leave now...
Lara

Very cool! My guess is that you will come away from the experience with a much different perspective regarding guns and shooting.

Lara, let's just hope that you never have to worry about shaving your face!
