My avatar is part of a painting by my favorite artist - Eric Waugh.

It, along with 4 others by Waugh, hangs in my house.

I change mine to fit my mood sometimes but this is the one I use the most. I was warming up at a Memorial Day concert when one of our community band members took this shot. I liked it and it's me so there it is!

Mine is my '60 Conn 6B Victor trumpet. A recent eBay find - it's original and like new. A sweet horn!

Lady Liberty stands for all I hold dear about my country. She stands as a welcome to those that love life and freedom. She stands as a warning to those who hate liberty and life that we are a nation that will never submit to them.

The lights where the towers stood are my paean to the ghosts of the past and a look to the hope of the future.

It is my avatar because it serves as an admittedly presumptuous reminder that we must never forget.

Mine is a picture of the dolphins that I earned while serving aboard submarines in "Uncle Sam's Canoe Club" (otherwise known as the U.S. Navy ).

My actual one has a nice little story:
It is the East German version of the pedestrian traffic light. After the reunification it was supposed to "die" and be replaced with the Western version. But some people decided to mount a campaign to save the Eastern "Ampelmann". In a way it's a little symbol for the fact that not all things from East Germany were bad! In fact this one looks much nicer. And the funny thing is that not only has he been saved, but he has become ths standard and can now be seen on brand new LED traffic lights all over Germany.

There is a company who sells all kinds of merchandise with the "Ampelmann" (www.ampelmann.de) on it. One t-shirt even found it's way to the testing room of Eclipse trumpets in Luton. And that's not enough: The little guy charmed one of the Eclipse artists... Guess who?
