![]() | My avatar is of the Honeywell HTF7000 Turbofan engine that is used on the Bombardier Challenger CL300 business jet. I started on this development engine program back in 1998 (before we had a customer for the engine) and have been on it since (the engine went into service in 2003). I now support several other development engine programs, but I also continue with the production support work on the HTF7000. I’m proud to have been on a great team to develop such a fine product.

![]() ![]() | You can read about mine here: http://www.roerich.org/nr.html?mid=pact In short, it is the symbol of a movement started by the Russian ethnographer Nichals Roerich (of Rite of Spring fame) to promote the preservation of the worlds many diverse cultures. Quote:

![]() | When I first got on here (and other tpt sites....), saw all you guys/gals have these cool avatars. So... not to be left out, I did a Google image search for...cool trumpet. haha. I just did that same Google search and could not find it again! No matter. It was at some pretty hip graphic designer site and shows a trumpet under water. Pretty...cool...I thought. Thus, I found my avatar! After reading many of the other noble descriptions here...I suppose mine was more "stumbled upon".....than a revelation with deep meaning. I'll just stay with....cool....

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I really don't have many pictures of myself. I played a Brandenburg concerto last year and one of the violinist took a picture at the rehearsal. I thought it was pretty representative. I am playing a 3-valved piccolo trumpet of my own design. It is straight. The bell is made of red brass. As it is not coiled with bell braces, it speaks very easily and can be played very softly. It is not suitable when you want to blow away a symphonic wind band however! The rotary valves were built by Lätzsch in Bremen, Germany. They are called "full flow". The insides are made out of carbon fiber - impervious to hot and cold and nothing sticks to it(very easy to keep clean). They have ball bearings on the top and bottom and are the fastest valves that I have ever played. The mouthpipe is my own design. I use a Monette AP5/BP5 mouthpiece with it I am really into the construction of brass instruments and just wanted to show my toy!

![]() | Mine is an old photo of the "Big Bass Drum" (aka "World's Largest Drum", aka "BBD") at Purdue University, my alma mater. I was a member of the Purdue All-American Marching Band back in college (many moons ago) and some of my most memorable experiences as a musician were as part of that ensemble. The photo actually dates from many years before I was a student there, which to me is neat because it represents the fact that I was a part of carrying on a long and proud tradition (going back to 1886). Whenever I go back to march in the alumni band there is invariably someone marching beside me who was a student 30 or 40 years before me.
