| Pianissimo User | This is me, -yes, I'm playing the violin- during a concert in Jerusalem with a German-Israeli orchestra. It's my Avatar because I enjoyed that time in Jerusalem so much and playing the violin actually is what I do most (don't worry, I love playing the trumpet!) |

![]() | I got the pleasure to work with Doc Severinsen when I was teaching in Western Maryland. He played a concert with the Maryland Symphony and we ( the school system) put together a High School all star group to play for him in a clinic setting. As I was leaving the stage, when he arrived, he told me to hang around since I had been working with them to get prepared and "we" would work with them. I got to stand two feet away from him when he did some playing for the kids and my students and I meant him back stage after the concert that night. It was a wonderful experience. To shake the hand of a legend like Doc and actually with with him. |

| Mezzo Piano User | I'm a NY-er at heart. Always have been and always will be, I reckon. A little over 5 years ago my city was attacked. I still hurt. To this day, the fight continues. The avatar is a reminder: never forget; do not lose resolve; protect our way of life. Amen.

![]() | Glad you like it. Thanks. Clarke's grave stone was placed by the Pennsylvania Band Master's association (or something like that) and is really a nice memorial. The avatar space isn't big enough to do it justice.

![]() | Re: The story behind your avatar Best 9 year old 3 point shooter that I have seen. At age 7, wearing one of his favorite players' jersey while practicing his favorite pastime; dunking.

| Pianissimo User | Re: The story behind your avatar I created mine in an image editing program. It's a combination of my two obessions: the trumpet and Star Wars. The quote on the avatar comes from Darth Vader and illustrates the arrogance of the darkside of The Force. It is a fitting reminder that no matter how much we practice and how good we get, there is always room to improve, and our skills are never quite "complete." The other quote is from Yoda and represents the perseverance of the lightside of The Force. Sometimes we need a swift kick in the seat of the pants to remind us that only "trying" isn't always good enough. Can you sense the overly critical nature I have of myself?? heh. So yeah...wouldn't it be sweet if our trumpets were lightsabers too? |
