Guns unloaded, locked, and ammo away from the weapon protects the bad guy from getting shot . . . and does nothing to protect the honest person being attacked.

There are some crazy, crazy gun laws in parts of the nation that go totally against common sense!

I'm glad I live in Georgia, where the "good guys" in virtually every car are packing a LOADED handgun or two within an easy arm's reach . . . and the bad guys don't even THINK about car-jacking a car. Naturally, to do what I'm talking about, the armed citizen MUST have a Concealed Weapons Permit.

The permits are issued by each county's Probate Judge, on a "shall issue" basis. A renewal license takes a week or so in my county. Several weeks longer for the first one that requires a full FBI background check and full fingerprint analysis.

NOTE: Shall Issue Laws state that a person cannot be turned down for a concealed permit based upon politics or bribes . . . nor can they jerk the citizen around for months by delaying the process. If a person can LEGALLY qualify (no criminal record, no spousal abuse, no mental issues, are a US citizen, etc.) the court is ordered they SHALL ISSUE the license.

Sorry Felix that NY doesn't permit the "good guys" to carry concealed . . . for you guys have a bunch of guns on the streets . . . in the hands of those who would NEVER qualify!!!

As far as not even being able to transport your own guns when you travel, that is just as crazy. Your laws guarantee the crooks that they have little to fear from getting shot in NY . . . unless by another gang member. This must be comforting to them as they pick on honest people . . . and encouraging too!
