His recent "education" is includes the fact that if you are an illegal immigrant, you don't need a driver's license to drive a car in the United States. (as a side not, this was the THIRD time the same person gave him that story!)

We see a lot of "international driver's licenses". They are not worth the paper they are printed on, and the poor folks who buy them from 30 bucks up to 150 bucks are told they can now legally drive in the United States. You can purchase a resident alien card in MN for 30 bucks or so, along w/a fake social security card. Only a handful of times in almost a decade of being a cop have I called INS (or ICE now) and had them take an illegal off my hands. One was because the party had been previously deported, and another was convicted of homicide. I run in to illegals on an almost daily basis when I'm at work.

![]() | Re: Things I learned at work yesterday Hi 40cal., Maybe you'll enjoy useing the following greeting on the next car that overflows with that pungent smell. About 30 years ago I had a hippie stumble into my high end hi-fi shop reeking of the finest homegrown in the county to check out some great sounds. I mean, this guy was BLITZED! So, instead of cheerfully asking, "Good morning! Hii, how are you today," I twisted a couple of words around and said, in the same way and spirit: "GOOD MORNING! HOW HIGH ARE YOU TODAY" He automatically replied, "I'm fine," and kept on going. About 20 steps later his stoned minded kicked in as he realized my real question. It was at that time that I observed him sniffing his shirt and sleeve . . . having a real pot-induced paranoia attack! I about busted up trying to keep a straight face!!! I'll bet you could have some real fun with that little twist on words! Warmest regards, T. PS: I'm glad you didn't pull me over back when I was about 21. | Pianissimo User | Re: Things I learned at work yesterday 2 weeks ago I saw a friend of mine walking in the sun, I felt bad for her so I pulled over and picked her up, I could tell she was walking to work. I made it about 1 block when the lights came on behind me. I was actually kind of pissed since I couldn't figure it out. I was doing 8 over..maybe that was it. WRONG. The police officer walked up to my car with his hand on his gun, and looked at me dead in the eyes "Son, Drivers License, registration. Do you know it's illegal to pick up prostitutes?" I looked at her and we both busted out laughing. It was probably one of the most riduculous things I'd ever been pulled over for, his face turned beat red with embarassment as we explained the situation. He gave me back my personal effects and walked away. Not everyone is perfect, and I'm sure he stops people who really are picking up street walkers, but this just made me laugh too hard.

![]() | Re: Things I learned at work yesterday It seems there is always a chasm between what the police understand the law to be and what people think the law is. Also, where the police sometimes think they know the facts they can be caught as in the above situation. I think 40 cal. has it right that when you are directed by an officer of the law to stop you are obliged to stop (regardless of what you do or don't think you are doing.....your car may be on fire). I do, however, advise women, that should they be alone and stopped they require a good long look at the police credentials before they open the door or even roll down the window. If they are even in the least bit suspicious, I recommend a cell phone call to either 911 or some designated non-emergency number. Better safe than sorry.

I pulled a gal over up north, she called 911 and said something to the effect of, "Not that I'm prejudiced, but [he] is not American". Apparently there are no minority cops in the greater MN area. Can't say I've had 911 called on me before this!!!!! Maybe she woulda felt better if I had worn a white bedsheet on my head or something, what a loser!!!!
