first car- 1987 nissan pulsar se, looked like hell but was very quick and with 110,000 on it showd no signs of slowing. I sold it after about a month because Im an idiot, one regret for me.

current car-1991 isuzu pickup v6 4x4, 116,000 and runs great. Its a great truck and I love it in the winter and off road, but at about 17-20 mpg, I wish I would have kept the nissan.

1st (1985 to 1988) - 1984 Fiat 127 - went like a bomb... 125mph... well, according to the speedo anyway. . Wrapped it round a post... it still went, but was never the same.

2nd (1988) - 1985 MG Metro - worst piece of cr#@ ever... kept it a whole uh, 3 months.

3rd (1989-1993) - 1985 Vauxhall Nova... in dark brown! Almost the most sensible car I ever drove. Actually, it was nice, and very reliable. Had a really good stereo system in it until it was stolen.

4th (1994-1997) - 1985 Ford Fiesta... also in dark brown. Very very basic. Good for poor people. Had a really nice stereo in it until it was stolen... three times!

5th (1997-1999) - 1989 Volvo 440. Nicest car I've ever owned. Surprisingly fast too for a tank. This one could really go 125mph, and had a little steam still left in it. Apparently too hard to break into by the casual car stereo thieves. Managed to keep a good stereo in this one for the whole time I had it.

6th (1999-2000) - 1991 Ford Tempo. Built like a... um, well, like a Volvo 440 actually.

7th (2000-current) - 2000 Chevy Cavalier. Rattles along. Reliable, never changed a light bulb (though the brakes get replaced annually ). It's got 39000kms on it... if you think that's low, the Tempo only had 56000kms on it when it was sold at the age of nine! Bought it with all the extras available and had the standard A/C taken out (we only have a use for it about 3 days a year... why pay the tax and need to get it serviced?).

Might think about getting a new car when the Chevy starts to need work. Probably get a few more years out of it.

Roads here are full of potholes. Winter salt rusts cars here like there's no tomorrow... no one takes care of your property in the parking lots here... so many reasons not to waste my money on a new car.

R.

Learned to drive in a 1973 AMC Hornet Sportabout.

First (parentally funded) car that was mine was a 1973 Ford Pinto Runabout, bought before we knew they go BOOM!

First (used) car I ever bought myself was a 1973 Fiat Spider.

First new car I bought was a 1983 Mitsubishi Cordia.

Current car/ride is a 1996 Ford Explorer.

First car - 1987 Ford Fiesta 1.4S
Current car - 1999 Toyota Landcruiser.

My trumpet case just about fits in the boot Mike....! (Focus's drive very nicely in my opinion by the way, I hired one on my holiday touring scotland last summer - lovely handling - better handling than the Honda S2000 we had!)

Mini Cooper S (the old original ones) have to be the most fun car ever built (until you get cramp and very uncomfortable due to the lorry angled steering wheel!)

Graham.

You are telling me you drove in a ford focus. That handled better than a Honda S2000?
