We really like our Pilot. It rides more like a car than most SUVs, and is very spacious with well thought out ergonomics and typical Honda dependability. Gets pretty decent gas mileage for an SUV too. It's AWD, but I don't live in snow country so I don't know how it would perform in deep snow.

OK, a complete list from the day I passed my test to the present day, in chronological order (covers a total of about 15 years), although I wouldn't descrivbe any of them as a 'rig'; doesn't that mean 'truck'?:

1. VW Passat Mk1 3-dr 1.4l 'fastback' in lime green; engine block eventually split in two.
2. Opel Record (like a Vauxhall Carlton); 2 tonnes and no power steering, used to be the chauffeur car for a bishop! Sold to my cousin and ended its days banger racing in Croydon (near London).
3. VW Scirocco 1.6l, metallic beige. Nice. Was rear-ended once when I was driving it, then my brother drove it onto a bridge, then he sold it back to Dad and eventually it was stolen for joy-riding with about 230,000 miles on the clock. Dad was disappointed because he'd wanted to get it to 1/4 million!
4. Ford Fiesta, 950cc, so basic the window washer was a rubber foot pump!
5. Citroen BX GTi. With my foot to the floor, I could turn the wheel 1/4 turn either way and it would still go in an arrow straight line .
6. VW Corrado 1.8l 16v. Engine had two modes; shopping cart or ocmplete hooligan.
7. VW Jetta GTi, lowered suspension, metallic beige with an orange stripe. I'd just met my wife at this point, and she hated it so much she refused to drive it. I could only convince her to get in it for short journeys.
8. Seat Ibiza GTi. The only car I've actually crashed; understeer on black ice into a 6ft high stone wall.
9. Ford Mondeo 2.0l GLX. I'm yawning just thinking about it.
10. Lotus Elise S1 . Absolutely amazing car, but rubbish for my 60 mile a day motorway commute in the winter so sold with huge regret.
11. Seat Toledo V5. Only had this a week; returned to the dealer under Sales of Goods Act for misrepresentation.
12. VW Corrado 2.0 16v. Bought off my brother to fund his honeymoon. Selling it soon, probably for a Honda Accord Type-R (now have a very young son so need a "sensible" family car).

My wife has a Ford Focus TDCi 115 Ghia, which is quicker than the Corrado and handles nearly as well!

Looking back at it, that's a lot of cars in not many years, especially as three of them were when I was at University and didn't have one! Do I have a problem?

Rich.

Current bike: Mongoose D61R that's going to receive a complete overhaul in an attempt to create a downhill / freeride bike. That's once I have about $1,000 in spare cash though.
Current bike: 2001 Santa Cruz Bullit that's set up as a stupid downhill / freeride bike that's going to receive an overhaul to make it less extreme and bit more suited to the UK midlands (where dem hills?)

Bikes now???

Oh, oh.... are we switching to bicycles now...?

My wife and I were avid cyclists up to a few years ago...
when people walk into our garage they think we have a entire club living with us...

RICH,

You guys have really cool cars there. Wish I knew what a lot of those were. I recognize the VW's and the Focus... but I'm sure they are much better vehicles than what we end up with here in the states.

Most of the VWs were available in the US under different names. I think the higher performance ones were quite rare; seems to me from my trips to the US that Americans want different things from a sports car than Europeans. Certainly the Corrado was sold in the US with a 170bhp 2.8l V6 (we got a 190bhp 2.9l V6 in the UK ). Not sure if Seat make it to the US. They used to knock off old designs that Fiat had finished with, now they're owned by VW-Audi and they make very good cars based on VAG floorpans.

The lotus is the real star in there, but the S1 wasn't sold in the US because Lotus couldn't afford the Federal type acceptance tests. The latest version is avaialble in the US now though, but doesn't exactly comply with the 'Chevy Corvette' school of sportscars! It has the 190bhp engine from the fastest Toyota Celica and only weighs about 800kg. Very fast, and unbelieveable on the typical UK bumpy twisty back roads. As soon as I can afford a third car (after I've kicked my Eclipse habit, after my son turns 16 - he's not even 1 yet - and after the mortgage is paid off!) I'm going to get another S1. Probably the best all-round weekend sports car avaialble, imho.

Rich.

Here are some of Rogerio's pictures. It looks like it used to be a nice wagon!

I'd say he's a pretty lucky guy too.
