![]() | $2.06 for regular today at Sam's Club!!! The sign read $2.10 when I pulled in and the guy told me to wait a minute before I filled up. He made the adjustment and the I lucked into $2.06. Have you seen www.gasbuddy.com? It is a great sight to find the cheapest gas that might fall on your route to and from work!

![]() | I just watched the news earlier and they were showing these two gas stations in Medford, MA owned by the same guy charging $1.04. The lines for these stations are miles long. Business owners near him are not too impressed.

| Fortissimo User | There are 3.785 (I round off to 3.8) litres in a US gallon, 4.54 in an Imperial gallon. That ain't cheap even if the $Cdn is worth $0.85 US! Oh yeah... and as Graham hinted at (but didn't say), if you want premium you'd better be prepared to pay another $0.05 to $0.10 on top of that... per litre. US prices for premium are, relative to regular unleaded, a bargoon. I don't even want to talk about mid-East prices! |

Think of it this way: there are approximately 4 litres to a gallon (a little less). Now, do the math. Yeah, exactly. ML | |

![]() | Thanks Toots - I was being too subtle! - I was trying to say that we are not comparing "like with like". Interestingly Greg I think it depends on the management system on the car. A car I had a few years ago could take 95 or 98 octane but there was no advantage to the higher octane, although there would also be no carbon build up either as that seems to be a thing of the past with fuel injection and advanced management systems monitoring the correct balance constantly. Much more efficient than the old carburetters! One of my cars though detected the higher octane rating and the management system would make the most of this with noticeably imroved performance, albeit at the expense of fuel economy! Very few cars demand 98 Octane (or 97 now the government has made it less) in the UK - the Honda s2000 is one and the Subara Imprezza WRX another that I know of. I owned an s2000 and I often wondered what owners did in the US - is the engine just detuned with less power to run off a lower octane? - or do they have to find 98? All ferraris etc are made to run off 95. My brother has a BMW M5 and uses 97 but for fuel economy reasons!!!! - he finds it runs smoother with better fuel economy with 97 and is more economical in the long run even though 97 is more expensive than 95. ![]() | I found a place near me that sells the gas without ethanol with lead! O-o-o-oh... Black Beauty like! It's supposed to be for collectors and you have to have the plates to prove it, theoretically. Oops, shoot... didn't notice until after I filled up, silly me. I passed by a firend who was standing on the sidewalk and he swore he saw my car licking her chops... I guess she takes after me, as in just before an entrance at work. ML |
